Derrick Augustus McCauley's Obituary
Derrick Augustus McCauley, a man of Jamaican heritage, was born on February 25, 1942, in the vibrant Grande district of Hanover, Jamaica, West Indies. He was the third child of Doris Anglin and Harold McCaulay.
During his early years, Derrick attended Kendall Primary School in Hanover, where he embarked on his educational journey, laying the foundation for his future. Derrick grew up in a loving family environment and a Christian home, where he attended church every Sunday to learn about God. From a young age, Derrick's heart was filled with love for his family and community. He was a beacon of affection, spreading warmth to everyone around him.
As Derrick transitioned into adulthood, he became a provider for his family. He dedicated himself to his farm, working tirelessly to make a living and support his loved ones.
Derrick migrated to Montreal, Canada, in 1989; he worked as a machinist in a machine shop for several years. He was sick and could not work anymore after suffering a stroke, which left him in danger. Derrick would need assistance from others from time to time.
In his later years, Derrick's daughter Christine became his pillar of support. She would often travel from the USA to Canada to visit him. Eventually, Derrick expressed his desire to live with Christine, and in April 2019, he made a life-altering decision. He migrated to the USA, embarking on a new chapter of his life with her. Derrick continues to live with his daughter, Christine in her home, where he passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at approximately 8:30 am with two of his daughters by his side. He was surrounded by love.
Derrick had two brothers, Clarence, and Kenneth, and two sisters, Winsome and Hyacinth, all who preceded him in death.
Derrick's legacy lives on through his nine children, sons, Roland, Adrian, Leefore, Kelvin, and Sedgwick; and daughters, Beverley, Christine, Keron, and Kerah; 27 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. His love and care for his family were his most significant achievements, and his memory will forever be cherished in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Oak Hill Cemetery.
