CHIEF DEPUTY DENNIS W. WEBB
On Saturday, November 10, 2007, Chief Deputy Dennis W. Webb, age 52, of the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office, was killed when his vehicle was struck by another car in Prince William County. Beloved husband of Linda Webb of the City of Manassas, son of Henrietta Webb of Alexandria, father of Shaun and Brian Webb, doting grandfather of Reagan, brother of the late Patricia Chumley, brother-in-law of Danny Chumley and uncle of Chuck Chumley. Chief Webb, known for his exceptional communication, mentoring and organizational skills, joined the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 as Chief Deputy after his retirement from Prince William County where he served honorably and with distinction for 22 years with the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center as Captain, Director of Administration, Certified Jail Manager and exceptional trainer. He previously served five years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Sheriff’s Office. In addition to his law enforcement and corrections career, Chief Webb was very active at his church, Manassas Assembly of God, and in numerous community organizations including Leadership Arlington, and SERVE, Inc., a local organization committed to providing emergency assistance to residents of Prince William County. Chief Webb served as the Chair of the Health and Safety Service Committee of the Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross, taught numerous courses in disaster services as well as health and safety and received the chapter’s Exceptional Service Award in 2001. A charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police Battlefield Lodge #42, Chief Webb was a member of the National Sheriffs’ Association, Virginia Sheriffs’ Association, American Jail Association and the American Correctional Association. Chief Webb will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched with kindness, humor and assistance.
Visitation will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA on Tuesday, November 13th from 7 – 9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 11:00 AM at the Manassas Assembly of God, 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, VA. Burial to follow at Stonewall Memorial Gardens with reception to follow at church.
