Dennis M. Milam Sr.'s Obituary
Dennis Michael Milam Sr., age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 24 2021.
He was born on January 18, 1957 in Alexandria, VA to Nellis and Billy Beach. He was raised by his mother Nellis and Chic Milam, who adopted him in 1965. Dennis graduated from Groveton High School in 1976 and married the love of his life, Susan, shortly after on November 3, 1976.
Dennis owned and operated Accent Millwork and Supply since 1992 with his co-founding partners. He had two sons, Michael and Jason and a grandson Chase (9). Dennis lived next door to his son, Michael, where he particularly enjoyed spending quality time with his grandson, Chase, who he absolutely adored. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. When his boys were little, he enjoyed taking the family on weekend excursions to visit parks and forts in the DC area. On Friday nights, he would take them for a ride along the Potomac River to spend time together and listen to music.
Besides spending time with his family and friends he loved to travel, especially to a beach or anywhere warm where he could wear his tank top and enjoy a cold drink. He and Susan owned a second home in Colonial Beach where he was a staple in the community. Dennis always participated in the town activities and parades and was best known for dressing up as the Christmas Grinch every year. He had a passion for music, and he absolutely loved to dance. While enjoying a live band you could always find him on the dance floor having fun.
Dennis loved his hometown sports teams and always rooted for the Washington Redskins and Maryland Terrapins through the good times and bad. He thoroughly enjoyed playing basketball and cornhole and he was extremely good at both. Dennis had several signature dishes that he always brought to holiday gatherings and events with friends including spinach dip, banana pudding and his legendary Jello-Shots! Dennis genuinely enjoyed life to the fullest and he touched everyone he met with his sincere generosity and energetic personality.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan; father, Chic (Barbara); son, Michael (Lisa); son, Jason (Sandra); grandson, Chase; sister, Mandy; sister, Julie; and mother-in-law Mable.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday December 3, 2021 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations be made to St Jude’s children hospital in Dennis’ honor.
