Dennis Dean Massey's Obituary
Dennis Dean Massey, born in Leon Iowa on December 21, 1941, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Fredericksburg, Virginia on January 16, 2023.
Dennis (Denny) was a born salesman who never met a stranger. He was very active in the Fredericksburg Baptist Church community volunteering at the food bank and singing in the church choir and at funerals. He loved spending time with his family and acting as tour guide to everyone that came to visit from out of town. He loved watching Iowa State basketball and football and was a Denver Broncos season ticket holder for many years. Prior to moving to Virginia, Denny was active with the West Alameda Baptist Church in Lakewood, Colorado where he directed the choir for 20 years and was on the church board that built the Eaton Terrace Residences Assisted Living facility.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Leah Massey, his daughter Stephanie and granddaughter Reina.
Dennis is survived by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Marie (Picon) Massey, sister Janice (Massey) Thomas (Ronald), his children Greg Massey (Suzette), Denise Delong (Rick), Maria Massey (Joseph Gienow), and five grandchildren Danielle, Alexandria, Audrina, Eliana and Wyatt.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM (ET) on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401 with reception to immediately follow.
