Denise Marie McCawley's Obituary
Denise Marie McCawley, 60, of Manassas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 5, 1965, to the late Thomas Joseph McCawley III and the late Violet Lee Gray McCawley.
Denise enjoyed gatherings and spending time with friends. She had a deep love for music, with Tom Petty and classic rock holding a special place in her heart. She was known for her upbeat personality, quick wit and sarcasm that could make anyone smile. Denise loved to travel and was always ready for a spontaneous trip. She took great joy in cooking for loved ones and never missed a chance to treat her family or friends to a meal. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who always opened her heart and home to others.
Denise is survived by her partner, Dennis Godfrey; her son, Michael Travis McCawley (Leslie); and her grandson, Dazen Gray McCawley. She is also survived by her siblings, Thomas Joseph McCawley IV (Diane), David Charles McCawley (Val), Lisa Ann Sheppard (Jim), Deanna Lynn McCarty, Kathy Michelle McCawley-White (Pat), and Maryanne Christine McCawley.
In addition to her parents, Denise is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wayne McCawley.
She loved and deeply cherished all of her nieces and nephews: Crystal Dillard, Lindsay Williams, Anthony Cangemi Jr., Kimberly Cangemi, Eddie McCawley, Carryn St. John, Kendra Knapp, Meaghan Helme, Carey Payne, Matthew Rulapaugh, Chace Coffey, Jacob Rulapaugh, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
