Denise Ethel Brown's Obituary
Denise Ethel Brown “Yiayia”, 73, of Spotsylvania County, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family after a sudden illness.
Denise was born with a deep love of family, quiet strength, and a generous heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Junior Brown, who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her devoted son, Frank J. Brown, his wife Marta J. Brown, and her cherished granddaughter, Zoe Marta Brown, along with the family dog, Bear Brown. She is also survived by her loving brothers, Patrick Sweeney and George Sweeney.
In retirement, Denise embraced a life of calm joy and close connection. For the past 13 years, she could often be found with a book in hand—whether reading or listening—crocheting with care, or proudly supporting her granddaughter in every new endeavor. Her role as "Yiayia" brought her the greatest fulfillment, and she poured her heart into her family each and every day.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9149 Eleys Ford Road, Fredericksburg. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle.
