Deborah Newcomb Perini's Obituary
Deborah Newcomb Perini, 55, of Fredericksburg, Virginia died Monday, April 29th, 2013 at her home. She was born August 26th, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia.
“Debbie” was a Department of Defense civilian employee and worked for both the United States Navy (USN) and the United States Air Force (USAF). She worked at the Air Force Space Surveillance System (AFSSS) as a Program Manager. The AFSSS is commonly known as the “Space Fence”, and serves as a multi-static radar system that can detect orbital objects passing over the United States. Debbie’s work supported satellite maneuvers, breakups in orbit, National support to the NASA’s manned spaceflight program and the International Space Station.
Debbie’s professionalism was always stellar as she exemplified a mindset of integrity first, service before self and continually reaching for excellence in her field of expertise. Debbie cherished her pets, which were her children, Timido, Thunder, Doce and Sam. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed books from authors like Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy and Stephen King. She often traded books to read between her mom, sister and co-workers. Debbie also enjoyed the theater and musical performances by her co-workers and their families. Debbie enjoyed riding bikes, and recently took yoga classes as a way to relax. She enjoyed playing bridge and UNO, and was very competitive. Debbie always kept score at the command softball games and was even umpire a few times! Debbie will be sadly missed by her family, co-workers, and friends.
Debbie is survived by her twin sister, Linda Newcomb of Arlington, Virginia; her brother Michael Newcomb, and his wife, Kimberly and niece, Samantha, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and her parents, Zeanious Newcomb, US Navy Retired, and Ludwell Newcomb of Stafford, Virginia. An additional survivor, is her beloved cat, “Sam”; her other cat “Doce”, preceded her death.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA); http://www.aspca.org/. You can make your donation on behalf of Debbie, Heidi, Skipper, Timido, Thunder and Doce, all of which are with her now.
