David Wayland Groves' Obituary
David Wayland Groves, 71, of Culpeper died peacefully Tuesday, August 08, 2006 at his home. He was born November 25, 1934 in Remington to the late Frank Campbell Groves and Nellie Mae Fields Groves.
Mr. Groves along with his loving wife, Dottie owned and operated Double D’s Restaurant for over twenty five years. He attended Open Door Baptist Church and was a member of the Culpeper Country Club and Culpeper Lions Club. He was a sports enthusiast and in years prior was a little league coach for a Remington baseball league. He loved dancing and playing pool but his true passion was golf. He truly adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and his dogs, “Baby Boy Snoopy” and the late “Trouble.”
He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy J. Groves, his sons, Timothy Groves of Culpeper, Jerry Groves of Culpeper, Michael Groves of Indiana, his daughter, Victoria Dodson of Culpeper, his step daughter, Renee Costello and her husband, Kevin of Fairfax, and his step son, Paul Nicholson and his wife, Cindy of Brightwood, his sisters, Ruby Wynosky of St. Augustine, FL, and Joan Trotter of Locust Grove, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Daniel Groves, his brother, Frank Groves, and his son-in-law, Clarence Dodson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 11, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Jarvis officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Family Care Home Health and Hospice, 610 Laurel St., Culpeper, VA 22701.
