David Eugene Yowell, Sr.'s Obituary
David Eugene Yowell, Sr., 83, passed away on December 9, 2019 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center in Culpeper, VA. David was born in Culpeper on January 17, 1936 to the late David Ephraim Yowell and Margaret Elizabeth Monroe Yowell. He was the oldest of 6 children; siblings include Ellen, Edward, Otis, Patsy and Robert.
David served in the US Marines Corp and was honorably discharged in 1962. He was a member of the Grand Masons. He worked for the Culpeper Star Exponent and Culpeper Appliances. He left school to work as a paperboy to help his family and over the years worked his way up to Advertising Manager.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his favorite shows, MAS*H, Little House on the Prairie and any old Western. He was a Redskins and Nationals fan.
He is survived by his children, David Yowell, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Washington, VA, Margaret Pettie of Rixeyville, VA, Lisa Dodson and her husband, William of Gordonsville, VA, Jennifer “Jenni” Amos and her husband, Gregory of Sperryville, VA, Thomas Yowell, Sr. and his wife, Sarah of Culpeper, VA, and Melissa Yowell of Sumerduck, VA; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Greg Amos officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Pallbearers will be Robert Yowell, Christopher Jenkins, William “Will” Dodson, Jr., Thomas “TJ” Yowell, Jr., Colby Yowell and Cameron Melot.
