David "Sonny" Smith Anderson's Obituary
David “Sonny” Anderson was born on March 12, 1941 to loving parents, David and Gladys Anderson of Sperryville, Virginia.
Sonny spent his early years hunting, fishing and getting into trouble with his younger brothers, Billy and Roger Lee along with their many childhood friends. He also played on the basketball and baseball teams at the local high school. After graduation, Sonny began an over 40 year career as a materials supervisor with VDOT before retiring in 2002.
Sonny married his wife of almost 45 years, Brenda Sue Jenkins on May 5, 1979. Together they raised two children, Sonya Lee and David Christian at their home in Sperryville. He was a devoted, proud husband and father who always put his family first.
Sonny enjoyed playing poker, betting on the horses, watching football, riding the roads of Rappahannock County with his dog, Nubbs and finding a good deal at a yard sale. He was an amazing person, always the funniest one in the room and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
The family will have a private farewell at his graveside. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Sperryville Rescue Squad or The Sperryville Cemetery Fund c/o Roger Jenkins.
An online guestbook and tribute wall are available at www.foundandsons.com
