David Nicheal Salfi's Obituary
SALFI, David "Dave" Nicheal We are saddened to announce the passing of David Nicheal Salfi who passed peacefully, 11 days shy of his 80th birthday, on Monday September 11, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dave was born in 1943 to Joseph and Sperina (Vallese) Salfi of Woodbine, NJ and graduated from Wildwood Catholic High School in Wildwood, NJ. David was one of 5 brothers. He is survived by his two brothers Salvatore (Harriett) Salfi and Nicholas (Michelle) Salfi. He is predeceased in death by his brother Frank (Theresa) Salfi and Joseph (Ellen) Salfi. Dave is also survived by his former wife Linda Salfi (Haines) as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much, many close friends and also his cat "Mr. Hampton".
Dave loved his country and so he joined the United States Army right out of high school. After serving with the Army Dave decided to continue working for the US Government. As a civilian, for the next 30 plus years he worked as manager of their communications transfer system in Virginia. He loved his role providing any and all printed materials/software for the US Military all over the world. He was their Go-To Guy and could be counted on for all difficult tasks.
For anyone that knew Dave, they knew that he possessed the gift of gab (like many other Salfis). When Dave was around, you were never bored. He had many stories from all of the great things he experienced in life. One could sit for hours (and hours) just listening to all of his stories.
When Dave wasn't proudly transferring information for the government he had many personal hobbies that he enjoyed. Some of Dave's loves were metal detecting, golfing (Dave was most proud of a recent hole in one he made), watching the Eagles, a night out on the town in Atlantic City with those he loved most, his family and of course bowling. Dave traveled all over the country bowling in different cities. When Dave wasn't working or traveling he enjoyed spending down time with his furry friends.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Dave's honor to the Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org)
