David Joseph Lauinger's Obituary
David Joseph Lauinger, 52, of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away at his home on May 4, 2025. David was born in Glen Cove, New York, in 1972 to Maria Suzanne Zaino (Sue) and Joseph Frederick Lauinger (Skip).
David attended the Green Vale School, St.Paul’s High School, and went on to study Architecture at NYIT. After moving to Culpeper, Virginia, David started, grew, and successfully ran, to the present day, DJL Services, an equine services company. He was passionate about reusing and repurposing various materials and equipment for all DJL job applications, believing “We are all stewards of this place… leave nothing but good vibes.”
David is survived by his mother, father, sister, Marisa (Lauinger) Maurer, brother-in-law, Matt Maurer, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a myriad of close friends, associates, and his cherished cat, Choppy.
A favorite motto of David’s: “Surround yourself with banner people and you will do banner things.” And indeed, David did just that.
Memorial Service details will be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Pennsylvania National Horse Show Foundation, of which DJL Equine Services was a proud sponsor. https://panational.org/about-the-foundation
