David Hartnett's Obituary
David Ralph Hartnett is believed to have died on April 20, 2023 at the age of 57.
He was a man of complex thoughts and diverse talents. His poetry and music will outlive him and allow him to speak to us well beyond his 57 short years. His music writing abilities were cultivated early in life soon after acquiring his first organ. David continued to write, play and distribute his music and poems throughout his life. He wrote poems for each family member including his siblings and parents and often included nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. He was a devout Christian and his worn and tattered Bible is evidence of that. Much like his parents before him he was especially touched by those in need and had a deep compassion for others. His high school years included many trophies and awards for running, but the trophy that best describes David is his recognition for most dedicated runner. David was dedicated to each member of his family and to using his talents of writing music to express his thoughts to the world.
David is survived by his siblings: Carolyn Huffstickler, MaryAnn Hartnett-Smith, her husband Eric Smith, Timothy Hartnett, Doug Hartnett, his wife Patricia McDonald, Christine Mathews, her husband Coy Mathews, Rebecca Durichek, her husband John Durichek, Kelly Wilkinson, her husband Adrian Wilkinson, nieces and nephews: Beth Brooks, her husband Jason Brooks, Andrew Huffstickler, his wife Carissa Huffstickler, Jacob Huffstickler, his wife Lauren Huffstickler, Jesse Mathews, his wife Astin Mathews, Brandon Mathews, his wife Elisabeth Mathews, Trevor Mathews, Seth Mathews, Joseph Durichek, his wife Brittany Durichek, Samuel Huffstickler, his wife Katie Huffstickler, Shoal Wilkinson, Emily Ford, her husband Kevin Ford, Eli Wilkinson, Kyle Wilkinson, Ben Hartnett, Sarah Durichek, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dennis Huffstickler; his parents, Thomas and Mildred Hartnett; and his brother, Thomas Hartnett, Jr.
Those that loved David Hartnett are invited to join in remembering him from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023 for visitation at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA.
