Sadly, we just found out about David's passing today, Dec 16, 2020. My wife and I are among hundreds of people that camp and hike the trails at Shenandoah on a regular basis, and planned our visits to watch David play at night. For 7 or 8 years, we always looked forward to seeing David play in Skyland or Big Meadows, and we would always try to chat briefly with him after (or before) his concerts if we could. He was always fun to watch, and he really enjoyed playing for the crowds...people from all over the world enjoyed his shows and his performances added another level of enjoyment to their visit that they were not expecting. Many didn't even know how much he knew about music and his vast knowledge of different kinds of music, but he really knew a lot. We always tried to sneak in a good tip for him, because he was a very special person, and we knew he chose to follow his dream, rather than the money. We just watched the service online and cried a lot...tears for a special man with many special gifts as a musician and a person. We will miss him terribly on our next trip this Spring. I hope you can pass this memory on to his family...if not, please let me know and next time we pass through Culpepper on the way to Shenandoah, we'll stop at the garage and drop off a note. Thank you. Pete & Nancy Brown, Leonardtown, MD. ([email protected])
