David Lull Culpepper's Obituary
David Culpepper, 70, of, Hanover, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022.
David Culpepper loved his family. He was supportive of any adventure and shared his enthusiasm and interest willingly. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, piloting boats, flying planes, fixing things, and he especially loved to drive cars. When he wasn't actively doing these things, he loved discussing their histories or learning more about how they worked. David had a love of the outdoors and participated as a fisherman, sailor, landscaper, or as an appreciative observer.
David was born in Bremerhaven, Germany. As infants, David and his twin brother, Barry, were adopted by Charles and Harriet then brought to Arlington, VA. He grew up in Arlington and attended Yorktown High School and later Northern Virginia Community College for auto mechanics.
David was the owner and operator of two auto shops in Tyson’s Corner in the late 70s. David and Margaret married in 1977 and their son, David, was born in 1986. A few years later, David sold the shops and the family moved to Fredericksburg. David worked as a shop foreman in several auto repair shops in the area, including Precision Tune, Express Auto Service, Lew’s Auto Service & Salvage, and Burton’s Automotive.
David is survived by his wife, Margaret Culpepper; his son, David Culpepper, and his wife, Emily Cayton; his brother, Barry Culpepper, and his wife, Melinda Douglas; and his grandson, Oscar Culpepper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Harriet Culpepper.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made in his honor to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation cbf.org/donate
