David Ray Brooks, Sr.'s Obituary
David Ray Brooks, Sr., 68, of Culpeper passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1945 in Fredericksburg to the late Lester Brooks, Sr. and Pearl White Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was a hard worker having owned and operated his own business, Brooks Excavating. He loved antique cars, going to parades and pushing snow in the winter months. He loved his two dogs, Spot and Jake and cherished his grandchildren and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Walker Brooks; three children, Connie Griffith and her husband, Dwayne of Orange, David Brooks, Jr. and his girlfriend, Betsy Pullen of Culpeper and Joni Brooks and her boyfriend, Cory Moreland of Culpeper; and six siblings, Pete Brooks of Manassas, Raymond Brooks and his wife, Irene of Front Royal, VA, Moses Brooks and his wife, Patricia of Fredericksburg, Marvin Brooks of Fredericksburg, Daniel Brooks, Sr. and his wife, Shirlene of Charles Town, WV and Marie Kline and her husband, David of Haymarket.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren; Amanda Brooks and her fiancé, Josh Dodson of Rixeyville, Brittany Griffith of Orange, Amber Brooks and her fiancé, Brandon Pelkey of Culpeper, Wesley Griffith of Orange, Courtney Brooks, Dalton Brooks and Carly Brooks, all of Culpeper; and one great grandchild, Autumn Dodson of Rixeyville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings; Louis Brooks, Helen Snelling, Kenny Brooks, Norman Brooks and Dorothy Baker; and one grandchild, Harry Griffith, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
The family requests that friends with antique cars bring them the day of the service in honor of David’s memory.
