David Harold Baker's Obituary
David Harold Baker, age 59, of Culpeper died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born March 28, 1956 in Charlottesville to the late Henry Irvin Baker and Virginia Elizabeth Knott Baker.
David retired from a 23 year career in law enforcement and later owned and operated Bakers Lawn Service. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. David was well known for his passion for shooting handguns and participating in the Bianchi Cup and Virginia’s Governor’s 20.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter, Bethany Jo Cubbage and her husband, TC “Clarke”; stepson, Gary Knighting; mother-in-law, Emma Pullen; two granddaughters that he cherished unconditionally, Kayleigh Knighting and Aubree Cubbage; eighteen nieces and nephews including close nephew, Ed Baker and his family; four brothers and one sister.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Everyone that knew David was well aware of the smile and impact he had on their life, especially the children that knew him as Santa at Christmas. He will truly be missed!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. John Burke officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to UVA Hope Cancer Center, 545 Sunset Lane, Suite 101, Culpeper, VA 22701.
