Daniel Allan Smith's Obituary
Daniel "Dan" Allan Smith, 79, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away at home on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on December 3, 1945, in Arlington, Virginia, Dan lived a life full of dedication, hard work, and love for his family. A proud veteran, Dan served his country in Vietnam before beginning his career as a glazier with Local Union 963 in Washington, D.C. Dan was a skilled craftsman with an eye for detail and perfectionist tendencies. For over thirty years, Dan could be reliably found on the weekends engaged in projects at his home on River Road, always with a family pet nearby. In retirement he pursued his passion for classic cars by meticulously restoring hot rods, showing them at car events, and winning numerous awards. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, laughing and sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. Dan’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marie Smith; his children and their spouses, son Bryan Allan Smith (Denise) and daughter Ellye Smith Aull (Brian); his cherished grandchildren, Bryanna Smith, Sean Smith (Morgan), Alexandra Aull, and Jonathan Daniel Aull; and his siblings Jack Smith, Michael Smith, Joyce Randall, and their families.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ruth Smith.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, with Pastor Amos Healy officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
