Daniel "Donnie" Franklin Carter Jr.'s Obituary
Daniel “Donnie” Franklin Carter, Jr. was born July 19, 1948, to the late Ruth Edna and Daniel Franklin Carter Sr in Rixeyville, VA. He departed this life on November 10, 2025, at UVA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He served in the Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany. He spent 40 plus years working in construction at W.B. Hopke Construction out of Fairfax, VA, until he retired. Other than his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Kimberly Carter; brother Thomas Carter, and special cousin Rosie (B.B.) White.
He was a loving and devoted brother and uncle who helped raise many of his nieces and nephews. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, win, lose, or draw! He enjoyed reading and watching other sports such as horse racing and golf. He enjoyed watching game shows with his sister Brenda, such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He loved his cats and made sure they were well taken care of. He enjoyed spending time with his family after retirement, especially his great nieces Aniylah Stanton and Akierra Vines. Donnie had a heart of gold. Every evening when he came home from work, he would have something special for his nieces and nephews, who all fight over who is his favorite. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving sisters, Brenda Butler (David), Vivian Annette Stanton (James); his aunt, Blondell White (Fisher); his nieces, Valerie (Xavier), Michelle (Nathaniel), Brittany, and Indya; his nephews, Timothy, Duane, Daniel, Lamont, David, Ishon, Dondre, and Quran; special cousins, Larry, Darrell, Penny, Tony, Jackie, and Paris; and a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA, with Pastor Reese Washington officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA with Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2524.
