Daniel A. "Boone" Cotton's Obituary
Daniel Andrew Cotton, lovingly known as “Boone,” passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the age of 21. He was born on June 9, 2004, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, to Nathan and Melissa Payne Cotton. In 2006, Daniel and his family moved to Virginia, where he grew up surrounded by loved ones.
Daniel attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida for two years, pursuing an interdisciplinary studies degree. He was employed at Our Father’s House in Culpeper, VA, and was a devoted member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Amissville, VA.
Known for his kind heart, Daniel was always ready to lend a helping hand—whether caring for his pets, assisting family and friends, or volunteering for outdoor projects and lawn care. He loved photography, singing, and working with wood. He found great joy in expressing himself through these interests.
Daniel’s life verse was Ephesians 6:10: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
He is survived by his parents, Nathan and Melissa Payne Cotton; his siblings, Benjamin Cotton and wife Jessica, Abigail Buck and husband David, and Nathanael Cotton; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Barbara Payne; his paternal grandparents, Edmund and Lucy Cotton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving extended family and friends.
Daniel’s life was a reflection of compassion, service, and faith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers named are Benjamin Cotton, Nathanael Cotton, David Buck, Joshua Wilson, Cody Dodson, and David Rogers; as well as honorary pallbearers Alan Banks, David Dodson, Keith Hollis, Jared Hollis, Stephen Cotton, and Albert Payne Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Maranatha Baptist Church, located at 18077 Lee Highway, Amissville, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Shelton and Evangelist Mark Rogers. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
