Daniel Leo Burns Jr.'s Obituary
Daniel Leo Burns, Jr. of Culpeper, VA, passed away July 28, 2025. He was born April 18, 1938 to the late Daniel Leo Burns, Sr. and Mildred Veronica Schauer Burns in Port Carbon, PA and was raised in Philadelphia, PA. He later moved to Culpeper, VA in 1980.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helene Ann Good Burns; children, Daniel L. Burns, III (Debbie), Robert K. Burns, Kenneth D. Burns (Elizabeth), Donna Burns Hodges (Phil), David B. Burns; grandchildren, Jacqueline Hodges and Danielle Hodges; brother, John “Jack” Burns (Edie); sisters-in-law, Anne Burns and Janice Robberson; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his siblings; Edward Burns, Thomas Burns and Christine Snow.
Daniel attended St. Joe’s Preparatory School where he played basketball. His career included positions in distribution management and sales. Daniel loved listening to Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond music. He was an avid golfer and a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles, Notre Dame, and most recently, UGA Bulldogs fan. He was fortunate enough to attend The Masters and the 1980 Superbowl; Eagles vs. Raiders. He enjoyed being a golf marshal in his retirement.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 1 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper, VA. Pastor Josh Munnikhuysen will be officiating.
