Daisy Welch Mastin Paytes' Obituary
Daisy Welch Mastin Paytes, 79, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief and courageous fight with liver cancer.
She was born March 28, 1943 in Spotsylvania, Virginia to the late William Goolrick Mastin and Julia Curtis Mastin.
Daisy enjoyed playing BINGO, singing karaoke, visiting with family and gossiping. She was really fond of the gossiping. Daisy was a longtime employee at Morrison Healthcare where she loved her co-workers.
Daisy’s greatest joy was being a mom, nanny, and grandma. Everyone loved Daisy and she loved everyone. She brought love, joy and care to everyone she touched and will be missed by so many.
Daisy is survived by her children, Tracey Paytes, Tammy Paytes, Judy Johnson (Bill), James Littleton Paytes, Jr. Thomas Daymude (Tina), and Stella Garrett; son-in-law, Kevin Hatty; 18 grandchildren, Misty (Kenny), Johnny (Leslie), Chad, Kevin (Andrea), Joey, John (Marian), Jessica, Gordie, Sarah (Austin), Sarina, Trevor (Brooke), Piper, Bo, Heather, Joey, Kyle, Mikayla, and Jackson; nine great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jacob, Tyler, Lexi, Kody (Taylor), Joshua, Aaron, Raelynn, and Ian; and great-great grandson, Oliver; brother, Richard Mastin; sisters, Thelma Mastin and Joan Bare; sisters-in-law, Fannie Mastin and Edna Swinson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Theodore Daymude; her daughter, Patricia Hatty; and siblings, Charlie Mastin, Arlene Wheeler, Violet Moran, Calvin Mastin, Shirley Jett, Tom Mastin, Henry Mastin, Nelson Mastin, Leroy Mastin, Doris Dean Widener, and Rose Jean Mastin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Hull’s Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, 256 Enon Road, Stafford, VA.
