Daisy Mary Atkins' Obituary
Daisy Mary Atkins (Whorton), 77, of Culpeper, peacefully passed away at her daughter’s house in Richardsville on March 12, 2022 surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other family and friends who dearly loved her. Daisy was born January 23, 1945 in Rappahannock County.
Daisy was a hard worker from the time she was a young girl. She worked in tree work and firewood until she couldn’t anymore but even then, you would always see her out in her yard doing something. She had the prettiest yard and rose garden in town. She loved her family with everything she had. You always got a hug no matter who you were. She was so loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Daisy was preceded in death by her husband the late Alpheus Snead Atkins Sr., her son Adam Snead Atkins, her father, William Browning Whorton, her mother, Martha Jenkins and so many other family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Atkins Suthard (Rick) of Richardsville, son Apheus Snead Atkins, Jr. (Eva) of Roanoke, VA, son Kennie Benjamin Atkins of Culpeper; grandchildren, Dustin Allen Gallimore (Kim), Eric Snead Giles (Sara), Elizabeth Giles Settle (Jesse) , Coty Wilson Atkins (Haley), Hannah Noel Atkins, Sara Noel Atkins, Mary Faye Atkins, Lydia Rose Atkins, and Wilson Lee Atkins; step-grandchildren, Richard Gene Suthard (Lauryn), Kyle James Suthard (Haleigh) of Richardsville; and brother, Lewis Horton, of Orange.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Karson Allen Gallimore, Emily Joy Gallimore, Carter Zane Gallimore, Mason Glenn Settle, Skylar Grace Settle, Harper Rose Settle, Madalynn Grace Atkins and Ellie Paige Suthard.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Alpheus Atkins, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Coty Atkins, Dustin Gallimore, Eric Giles, Kennie Atkins, Wilson Atkins, Ronnie Lee and honorary pallbearers will be Mason Settle and Karson Gallimore.
