Courtney Alexis Redmond's Obituary
Courtney Alexis Redmond departed this life on September 9, 2022, at Mary Washington
Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Courtney was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 19, 1989. She graduated from Monacan
High School, in Chesterfield, Virginia, attended Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia, and
received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Virginia
Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia. She worked as a Professional Photographer,
with Lifetouch Incorporated for ten years, and a Claims Manager at Geico (Government
Employee Insurance Company), for seven years. Courtney came to know Jesus as her personal
savior at the age of twelve years old and joined First Baptist Church of South Richmond, in
Richmond Virginia.
Courtney is survived by her father, John Willie Redmond (Cynthia E. Redmond) of
Fredericksburg, VA, Jacqueline Michele Cartwright (maternal) of Gaithersburg, MD, brother,
John Paul Redmond, of Richmond, VA (Wesley Robinson; Leon Essic-Anneise Green (Edwin);
Lisa Thompkins (Demond), of VA, and grandmother, Edith Redmond of Fredericksburg, VA.
Other relatives include aunts, Jacqueline Redmond of Temple Hills, MD, Juannetta Redmond-
DaCruz (Joseph F.) of White Marsh, MD, Karol Lynch of Shrewsbury, MA, uncles, Lawrence A.
Johnson of Hague, VA, John Wesley Chandler of Florida, fiancé, Raymond Lee Williams of
Fredericksburg, VA, and she leaves a host of other family members, loved ones and friends to
cherish her memory.
Courtney created a meaningful life, taking challenges with grace and always rising above. We
bid goodbye to one so loved and never to be forgotten.
“You were a lover of animals; nature, and it was evident in your daily life. You gladly rescued
dogs from shelters and loved them with your all. We feel very blessed that we had this time to
spend with you. With this final good-bye, the grief hangs heavy, like dark clouds around our
hearts. Until we meet again………..” The Family
Courtney’s family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2022 at First Mount Zion Baptist Church, 16622 Dumfries Road, Dumfries, VA 22025; where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
