Correll Rudolph "Rudy" Gough's Obituary
Correll Rudolph “Rudy” Gough, 86, of Brandy Station died Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 31, 1933 in Nokesville, the first male son born to the late Correll and Mary Beach Gough.
Mr. Gough was born a country boy on a farm in Nokesville, VA. He had three sisters and two brothers; one sister and one brother preceded him. He and his father raised hogs until later in life when he was in FFA, he borrowed a Jersey heifer from a dairy farm in Manassas. He showed the heifer at the fair and won grand champion with her. So, the farmer gave him the heifer and that got him in to raising cows and everything else that goes into farming. Planting, harvesting and grinding grain into feed along with protein to feed his herd. He was also a very good carpenter having built houses all over northern Virginia as well as repairing fallen down barns.
He was a member of the VA Farm Bureau and the American Legion in Culpeper. Mr. Gough was a Korean War veteran and a member of President Eisenhower’s honor guard.
He met and married the love of his life in 1958, June D. Gough; they had three children, Lynn M. Reid (Johnny) of Manassas Park, John C. Gough (Pamela) of Culpeper, and Bart L. Gough (Brenda) of Culpeper. He is also survived by three siblings, Alden Gough (Mary) of Nokesville, Ruth Butler, and Vicki Pounds (Kenny) of Bealeton.
Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Lakisha Dwyer (Roger Jr.) of Madison, Jason Gough (Jacquie), Maria Reid, Jennifer Carpenter (Jason) of Madison, Jessica Gough (Brian), Jackie Reid, and Jonathan Reid, Jr.; and ten great grandchildren, Cameron Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter, Jolene Gough, Jacson Gough, Lynden Jacobs, Rayden Jacobs, and Ellis June Dwyer, Gabriel Reid, Gracie Banks, and Avery Reid.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Elbert Gough; and one sister, Marilyn Hupp.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Pallbearers will be Roger Dwyer, Jr., Jonathan Reid, Jr., Jason Gough, Troy Moore, Jr., Ricky Crafton, Timmy Crafton and Kevin Gough.
