Collis Grant Fincham's Obituary
Collis Grant Fincham, 79, of Culpeper went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 17, 2013 when at the Culpeper Regional Hospital.
Collis was born in Remington, Virginia on June 19, 1933 to the late Earnest Clifton and Lillie Marion Fincham.
Collis was reborn on September 9, 1979 and baptized at the Alum Springs Baptist Church, where he surrendered his life to the Lord. Collis then constantly volunteered his life for the Lord, he painted, sandblasted and lettered everything from vehicles, windows and signs for others including what he felt to be advertising for Jesus by painting his name on others vehicles and church buses. He attended Open Door Baptist Church for many years until he started to feel ill and was unable to attend as he would have wanted. Collis was known to many and referred to by many ministers as an “Christian Gentleman” and a “Soldier of the Lord”
Collis had been involved in many musical bands and played throughout the state and country with many other widely known musicians.
Collis was a good neighbor and friend to many especially when he learned of his beautiful new neighbor whom became his friend and then soon blessed him as his wife, for the last 55 ½ years.
Collis is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Fincham and their three children; Kathy Frank and her husband Mike of Morristown, Tennessee, Collis Grant Fincham, Jr. and his wife Katie, of Reva Virginia and Tonya Hooser and her husband Mike also of Reva. Collis was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren Garrett and Gage Hooser.
He is also survived by three sisters, Hazel Jenkins, Helen Brown, and Shirley Nesselrodt.
In addition to his parents Collis is preceded in death by his siblings; two brothers Eastham and Clifton Fincham and two sisters Mabel Dwyer and Mary Eddins.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 3-7pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Hazel River Assembly of God Church, 14383 Hazel River Church Rd, Culpeper.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton.
