Clyde Clinton Mays' Obituary
Clyde Clinton Mays, 78, of Culpeper, VA died Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1941 in Amherst County, VA to the late McMannaway Mays and Nettie Coffey Mays.
He proudly served his community and retired as Sargeant Clyde Mays after 28 ½ years with the Town of Culpeper Police Department.
He is survived his wife of 57 years, Lucille, children; Michael Shannon Mays (Brandie Palmer) and Celia Lynn Hawkins (Donnie), one brother; Marshall Mays, four sisters; Eunice Stevens, Eva Gowen, Rachel Campbell, and Mary Jane Campbell (Norman), six grandchildren; Logan Mays, Clyde Cameron Mays (Kayla Dowell), Ian Mays, Maxwell Mays, Matthew Laramy (Kaitlyn), and Meagan Madden (Michael), 8 great grandchildren; Aidyn Mays, Julius Mays, Finley Mays, Annikka Laramy, Gabriel Laramy, Aaron Laramy, Brandon Laramy, and Harmony Madden as well as a host of additional family members.
In addition to his parents, Clyde is preceded in death by one son; Clyde Kelly Mays and five brothers; Avery Mays, Herman Mays, Ray Mays, Freddie Mays, and Mackie Mays.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at Culpeper United Methodist Church with Rev. Jessica Colwell, Rev. Lauren Wright, and Rev. John Hemming officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 822 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
