Clinton H. Howland's Obituary
Clinton Howard Howland was born August 11, 1931 in Murfreesboro Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Mattie Bell (Bevins) Howland and Howard Clinton Howland, both of whom are deceased. Clint was raised on a farm on the outskirts of Murfreesboro.
He joined the Army at the age of 18 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne on July 26, 1950. Clint was honorably discharged from the Army. After he was discharged he applied for employment with the District of Columbia Fire Department on October 15, 1956, where he was employed until he retired on August 29, 1982.
Clint met his present wife, Patricia L. Howland in 1961 and they married in June of 1963. They had two sons, Norman Wade Howland (Pamela) and David Glenn Howland. Norman has three children, Nicole Patricia Howland, Wade Norman Howland and Bryant Douglas Howland; and David has one daughter, Savanna Brooke Howland. Clint has one daughter and a son from a previous marriage, Brenda Joyce Cook (James) and Thomas Larry Howland. Brenda has one daughter from a previous marriage, Shelley.
Clint passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 and leaves behind to mourn and carry on where he left off, his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Lynn Howland; his daughter, Brenda J. Cook (James); his sons, Norman Wade Howland (Pamela), and David Glenn Howland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a brother, Ira Daniel Howland (Virginia); and four sisters, Hazel Ward, Patricia Dean Armstrong (Edmond), Mayme L. Powers and Nancy MacDonald (Larry).
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Larry Howland; a brother, Kenneth W. Howland; and a sister, Mary Ruth Phillips, whose husband (Charles) is still living.
In his younger years, Clint enjoyed hunting, fishing, race car racing and football.
Clint has asked for a private funeral to be held at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with a closed casket, limited to family and close friends. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fredericksburg, VA.
