Clarence F. Dowdey
Clarence F. Dowdey, 90, of Culpeper died Saturday June 4, 2016, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
He was born July 8, 1925 in Brandy Station to the late Jessie Churchill Dowdey and Vergie Mae Woodward Dowdey.
Clarence was a member of the United States Army and Air Force and served his country with pride. He was a member of the American Legion and Heritage Baptist Church where he served as a trustee for many years. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking and crafting.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife Dorothy Elizabeth Butler Dowdey ; and two siblings Violet Marion Dowdey and Jessie Cunningham Dowdey .
Clarence is survived by his daughter Patsy Collins of Culpeper and a son Clarence F. Dowdey, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey; two grandchildren Lori Ann Benish and her husband Paul of Sterling, VA and Amy Elizabeth Sisk and her husband Michael Adam Sisk of Warrenton,VA as well as three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike with Rev. Charles Shifflett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Internment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
