We were so saddened to hear of Claire’s passing and our hearts are with Meghan, Kenny, and Bridgett and their families. Such good memories of Bells School politics and playgrounds and campouts and Philip D. and Brownies and reconnections in the summers with the Dougherty family when we came home from overseas. We loved: “Claire was also a coupon-cutting, Moody Blues-loving, pinball wizard.” We can just see her clipping those coupons and cringing at the thought of paying full price for anything! We are so proud of how Claire established St. William of York Catholic School and went on to become the principal! She has touched so many young lives! Her own children’s—and grandchildren—and those of all the students that she taught. Rest in peace, Claire. Sending blessings to you and your family.

Claire and I were friends at Gwynedd Mercy College back in the '70's. She often wrote about how proud she was of her children in her Christmas cards and letters. My prayers and condolences to her children.

Jacki Thompson. Our daughter Alice was one of the first students at the school with Claire as the kindergarten teacher. So much patience, energy and dedication to start a new school. Ultimately Claire became my boss when we started a library and computer lab at the school. We watched Claire in action for the first 9 years of the school. Privileged to have known her. Rest In Peace.

I met Claire when my daughter started kindergarten at SWOY, she was such a wonderful person, always so welcoming and friendly. Her and Sonia were like the dynamic duo, really just worked so well together and for the school. She loved arabic food and would say to me , can you bring me some of those meat and spinach pies and of course I would. I’m sorry , I had lost touch with her over the years but I will never forget her and the impact she had on SWOY , the parents and the students. My condolences to Meghan Kenny and Brigitte. May she Rest In Peace.

I will always remember our trip to France with the Oblate Sisters when Claire and I roomed together. We had an unforgettable lunch at a cafe in Paris where the waiter got us out just in time for our tour of Notre Dame!
