Christopher "Chris" Evan Backe's Obituary
Christopher "Chris" Evan Backe, 22 of Spotsylvania entered into the Lord's hands and to be with his father on September 3, 2010. Chris was born in Culpeper on September 19, 1987 to Sandra Payne Mills and the Late Ricky Evan Backe.
Chris was a loving son, brother, grandson and friend. He attended Massaponax High School in Spotsylvania County. He had many passions but music was his greatest. Chris loved playing guitar, writing lyrics and poetry. He was also an avid skateboarder. There was more than meets the eye with Chris as he was selfless, generous and non-judgmental regardless of how others viewed him. He was a mentor to friends and always was there to help out another in need. He will be missed by all, including his devoted canine companion Vicious.
Chris is survived by his mother, Sandra Payne Mills of Ruther Glen, a sister, Ginna Baxter and her fiancé, J.C. Curry of Richmond and his maternal grandparents, Roberta and Henry Atkins of Glen Allen. Chris is also survived by his fiancé, Viki E. Johnson of Lake Anna and her children, Megan, Madeline and Meredith.
He is also survived by three uncles, Alan Payne, Eddie Backe and Bobby Backe, two aunts, Cindy Pryor (Dennis) and Gloria Aylor and cousins Jason, Tanner and Cody Payne, Logan Pryor, Shawn, Dawn, and Lee Backe, Doug Welsh, and many other family and friends.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Ricky Backe, his paternal grandparents, Eddie and Cecil Backe, a grandfather, Snake Payne, one aunt, Joyce Weakley and one uncle, Warren Backe.
The family will receive friends Thursday September 9, 2010 from 7 - 9 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A memorial of Chris's life will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 at 1 pm in Found and Sons Culpeper Chapel.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
