Christine Mae Estep's Obituary
Christine Mae Estep, 83 of Colonial Beach passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at her residence with her family by her side.
Christine was born in Clarendon, Virginia on December 22, 1927 to the late Thelma Staats and the late Fred Hamilton Kidwell. She was one of nine children.
Christine met and married the love of her life Bill Estep on Easter Sunday April 21, 1946. Christine worked after graduation at the Vienna Medical Center, then for the Naval Department in Washington D.C. She also worked as the secretary at the Oakton Methodist Church until 1963. In December 1963 they moved to Culpeper where both her and her husband Bill ran Kidwell Turf Farms, for her brother Jack Kidwell, until retiring. After retiring they made their home in Colonial Beach for the warm months and then spent the winter months in their home in Florida.
Christine was an avid sports fan her favorite sports were football, NASCAR, Capitols and the Olympics. She loved to play Bingo and the slots. She also was an avid reader.
Christine and Bill were blessed with three children and four grandchildren during their 51years of marriage. Their grandson Christopher B. Baker was the light of their life he spent many days with his nanny and granddad. They bought him his first vehicle.
Christine is survived by her two daughters, Becki Lee Baker of Locust Grove and Lauri Estep Deal of Culpeper. Also her eight siblings Gloria Costello, Shirley Thompson, Lorraine Grubbs, Fred Kidwell, Charlotte Wharton, Sharon Madden, Jack Kidwell and Betty Sarkisian.
In addition to her parents Christine is preceded in death by her husband and their only son Jim Estep, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Chaplain Randy Allensworth officiating. Interment will follow later that afternoon at National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice and/or Medi Home Health and Hospice 125 Olde Greenwich Dr. Suite 150, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22404.
