Christina Lee Powell's Obituary
Christina Lee Powell, 40, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away at home, in her sleep on June 6, 2025.
Christina was an intelligent, creative, engaging personality who cared deeply for those around her – family, friends, and community. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She was a Fredericksburg native who loved the outdoors and who enjoyed life in the Pacific Northwest for 16 years living in Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR, before returning to family in Virginia in 2018. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
Christina attended James Monroe High School and graduated from Stafford High School in 2002. She went to DeVry Technical Institute in Columbia, MD before moving to Washington state in 2003 and finding a second home with her aunt, Denice Kerr and her husband, Mark Hankin. She began her higher education in Washington first achieving an Associates Degree at Seattle Central College in 2009. She chose to continue her education traveling to study abroad in Montpellier, France for a year. She returned to Washington in 2010 to finish her degree from Washington State University, with a BS in International Business. She relocated to Portland, OR, and started her career with Intel. She was a big part of Intel’s Next Gen Program during her time there and once she completed her masters from WSU she worked at Intel as a Portfolio Manager. Most recently she worked for FedEx in Fredericksburg.
Christina is survived by her parents, Debra L. Kerr and David W. Powell; grandmother, Danalu E. Kerr; sibling, Mary-Martha Powell; brother, David J. Powell; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rachael Michelle Powell; and brother, Isaac Wallace Powell.
Christina’s family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd (Rt 208), Fredericksburg, VA. Christina loved plants and trees – things that can live on – if you would like to do an arrangement or plant in her memory.
Christina’s celebration of life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at Old Mill Park, Pavilion 2. Open mike will be available if you have a memory to share. Her family welcomes you to join us remembering the good, being grateful for her life, and fellowship together. Light refreshments will be served, an environmentally friendly balloon release will close out the service.
