We remember Charlie as a force of nature. For us he embodied the best of the essential texture of Rappahannock County. Over the years we were fortunate to get to know most of the family and the nurturing way Charlie handled all the ups and downs of daily living. Charlie was always caring and considerate and 100% a man of his word. We saw in Charlie a Jeffersonian ideal farmer, independent, self sufficient. We were always amazed by his exceptional mechanical and agricultural skills, whether he was making hay or running his cattle business. We do miss him but will keep wonderful memories of him. Our warmest affections to Betty, Alan, Cathy, PJ and Joanna.

I was a young man when I moved to the county, a hippie with long hair, a lovely wife and a newborn. lost and dangerous to many peoples eye. But Charlie had the ability to look past a persons exterior and see their soul. And he welcomed me with his big smile and gracious charm. Charlie was bigger in many ways than this life we live, I will remember him always and hold him dear to my heart. Thank you Charlie for all you taught me.
