Charles Charlie Edward Campbell's Obituary
Charles “Charlie”Edward Campbell, 76, of Elkwood died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born on October 5, 1930 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Clarence and Donnie Coates Campbell.
Mr. Campbell served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Korean Conflict receiving a Purple Heart. He retired from Cargill Milling Company after 20 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Mt. Holly Baptist Church, and a past member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He loved listening to gospel, bluegrass and country-western music. His love for music carried over into his hobbies. He had a collection of over 500 various music pieces. He enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling, but will always be remembered for his kindness to everyone. He never met a stranger and befriended all he encountered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Campbell and his six children, Darlene Curtis of Bristol, VA, Bonnie Cash and her husband, Eddie of Rhoadesville, VA, James Jim Campbell and his wife, Wanda of Culpeper, Donna Campbell and her companion, Anthony Clanagan of Culpeper, Patricia, Pat Campbell of Brightwood, and Charles Chaz Campbell and his wife, Connie of Remington.
Additional suriviors include his grandchildren, Dawn, Bethany, Michael and Jessica McManama, Autumn Johnson, Stephany Hall, Amanda and Robbie Cash, Chasity Scott, Terra Rooper, Corey and Kristy Weidmann, Angela Jarrells, Simeon, Rachel and Daniel Campbell and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Eldridge Campbell, his sister, Juanita Tellez and his grandson, Stephen Dakota Hall.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Holly Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Clarkson, Rev. Chaz Campbell (his son) and Rev. Doug Sachtleben officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Holly Baptist Church Cemetery located on Sumerduck Rd. in Remington, VA.
Pallbearers will be, Jim Campbell, Eddie Cash, Corey Weidmann, Anthony Clanagan, Michael McManama, Tommy Hutcherson, Billy Hutcherson and Troy Milton. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Hutcheson and the Deacons of Mt. Holly Baptist Church.
