Charles Venable "Venny" Payne, Jr.'s Obituary
Charles Venable Payne, Jr., "Venny", 79, of Culpeper, died Friday, October 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born April 22, 1945, in Fauquier County, VA to the late Audrey Estelle Huffman Payne and Charles Venable Payne, Sr.
Venny was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Remington, a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, and a lifetime member of the Milam Ridge Hunt Club in Richardsville.
Throughout his career, Venny held many positions in a variety of industries. He was an avid sports fan and always enjoyed being a spectator to his grandsons' sporting events. He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne Calvert Payne of Culpeper; grandsons, Walker Lee Chilton of Charleston, South Carolina and Spencer Lloyd Chilton of Culpeper, all of whom he dearly loved; two sisters, Sarah Margaret Payne of Culpeper and Leigh Nottingham Findley of Culpeper; nieces and nephews, Carrie Nottingham Ragan, John Hamilton Payne, Davis Colby Wood, Devin Marie Wood, Carter Ryan Wood and Caden Blair Wood.
In addition to his parents, Venny was preceded in death by two brothers, Duff Hamilton Payne and Edward Marcelous Payne, both of Culpeper; a niece, Kristen Kendall Payne of Richmond; and a nephew, Hunter Daniel Payne of Locust Grove.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Hales officiating. Military honors will be provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Following the service, the family invites you to share in food and fellowship at Peppers Grill, 791 Madison Road, Culpeper.
