Charles Joseph "CJ" McCartney's Obituary
Charles Joseph McCartney, 25, of Fredericksburg passed from this earth on Sunday, July 10, 2022.
Charles was born in Alexandria, VA on April 2, 1997 to Brenda Sue Humphries and Richard Lee McCartney, who preceded him in death.
Charles was honest, hardworking, genuine, and courageous. He was a man of his word. He meant what he said and never broke a promise. He was fiercely protective of the ones that he loved. He cherished every minute that he spent with his family and friends. He had a heart of gold, and was always willing to put his needs aside to lend a helping hand. He had a radiant energy about him that touched anyone and everyone.
Charles loved going to Dominion Raceway on Saturday nights with his fiance Kayla, his mother and stepfather, and brothers. He enjoyed being outdoors and being adventurous, like climbing to the top of the trees just for fun. He loved listening to music while sitting by a fire with those he held dearest to his heart. Hobbies included playing poker, going to the shooting range, spinning fire, eating massive amounts of food, walking on the trails at Alum Springs, and going fishing.
His lifelong dream was to be a homesteader that lived off the land with the family he planned to create with his fiancé Kayla and to have many children. They were to be married on September 10th of this year.
Charles had a very special bond with his mother. Even when he moved out on his own, he would go by after work and spend hours talking about everything, anything and nothing.
He was affectionately known as “Uncle Cha-Cha” to his nieces and nephews.
Charles is survived by his mother, Brenda Sue Humphries (Mike); brother Michael Calvin McCartney; step-sisters, Amber Green (Andrew) and Jordan Humphries; step-brothers, Drew Humphries (Jenn) and Tyler Humphries; his fiance, Kayla Mefford; mother-in-law, Melissa; and father-in-law, Rick Mefford; brothers-in-law, Aiden and Kyle Mefford (Rachel); niece, Elena Mefford; grandmothers, Belinda Mock (Rick) and Darlene McCartney; aunt, Jeanette McCartney; cousins, Ashley, Timothy, and Christopher; uncle, Brian Claycomb; cousins, Skylar and Kenny; Uncle, Travis Thompson; niece, Scarlett Humphries; nephews, Jackson Humphries, Austin Green, Noah and Luke Pitts; and many more family and friends.
