Charles Herbert Lightner's Obituary
Charles Herbert Lightner, 85, of Spotsylvania County passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Carriage Hill Health and Rehab Center.
He was a longtime resident of Spotsylvania, born April 27, 1931, to the late George and Helen Lightner.
Charles was a member of the American Legion Post 320; and Goshen Baptist Church, where he remained a devoted member.
Charles is survived by a brother, Roger Lightner of Spotsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Jean Lightner; and their sons, George and David Lightner.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Goshen Baptist Church, 9800 Gordon Road, Spotsylvania, with the Rev. Wayne Colton officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Immediately following the service, a time of fellowship will be held in the church’s reception hall.
Interment will be private at the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery. There he will rest forever with his beloved wife; and their sons.
In lieu of flowers, Charles’ family requests that memorial contributions be made to Goshen Baptist Church, 9800 Gordon Rd, Spotsylvania, VA 22553.
