Charles Hamilton Dodson's Obituary
Charles Hamilton Dodson, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence in Amissville, VA on Sunday, October 29, 2023. He was born March 11, 1939 in Viewtown to the late Charles Acrey and Gladys Wilson Dodson.
Charles was a foreman in the underground utilities field for many years. He was an avid hunter, a member of hunting clubs, and a collector of guns and antiques. He also enjoyed finshing, metal detecting and playing slots and the horses.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Dodson of Amissville; one daughter, Carolyn Dodson (Trez) of Edgewater, MD; two sons, Glenn Dodson of Stanley and James Dodson of Amissville; one granddaughter, Susan Weaver (Michael) of Amissville; three sisters, Barbara Settle of Amissville, Becky Frazier of Rixeyville, and Helen Dove (David) of Luray; one brother, Billy Dodson (Rachel) of Culpeper; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by one son, Charles Hamilton Dodson, Jr. and one sister, Gladys Joan Reid.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
Interment will be private at a later date.
