Charles Harold Dewey's Obituary
Charles H. “Charley” Dewey, age 76, of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012.
He was born in Cooperstown, NY on December 25, 1935 to the late Walter and Ida Dewey. After high school, he enlisted in U.S. Marine Corp. Over his twenty year career he attained the rank of Captain and served in the Vietnam War. After retiring from military service he began a second career as a branch manager for the Household Finance Corporation which spanned over twenty years. Charley has resided in Northern Virginia since 1974 and enjoyed golf and fishing.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Aviva Dewey; his son, Thomas Dewey; and a brother, Walter Dewey, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Dewey; three children, Marcy Dewey, Joshua Thompson, Justin Thompson and wife Francesca; two siblings, Patricia DuBois and Robert Dewey; one granddaughter, Gianna Thompson.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109.
Internment with military honors will be announced at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
