Charles "Charlie" Russell Mills, Sr.'s Obituary
Charles “Charlie” Russell Mills, Sr., 84, of Culpeper passed away peacefully at Poet’s Walk in Warrenton, VA on Sunday, August 18, 2019. He was born on May 6, 1935 to Raymond P. Mills and Emma Dora Woodward Mills.
Charlie retired from VDOT with 34 years of service and loved to raise beef cattle. He was treasurer and president of the Amissville Ruritan Club. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Amissville Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was active in many church projects.
He leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Curtis Mills; his two sons, Charles “Chuck” R. Mills, Jr. and David J. Mills (Candy) of Rixeyville, VA; grandchildren, Kayla M. Mills and Michael R. Mills; great- grandchildren, Ryan & Skila Mills, Kierstin Mills, Kiarra & Alaira Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Egbert, William, Raymond, Jr. & Robert Mills.
A special thanks to the personnel at Poet’s Walk and Heartland Hospice Caregivers who lovingly cared for Charlie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Peter Witkowski and Pastor Vernon Delong officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
