Charles B. Brown's Obituary
Charles Bardon Brown, 73, of Rixeyville died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born on March 10, 1939 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Edwin Hollis Brown and the late Madeline Bardon Brown.
Charles served as a gunner’s mate on the Destroyer USS William M. Wood DDR 715 in the United States Navy. He met his true love, Virginia LoGuirato, at a high school football game. They were married in 1965 and settled in Culpeper County in 1979 with their five children. Charles worked for many years for AT&T, retiring in 1995.
Charles was a tough, hardworking, extremely proud man with a good sense of humor and strong family values. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being on the water. He loved to spend time with his family, hang out with close friends, go to the beach for a crab feast, and cruise in his car.
He is survived by his five children, Maria A. Brown, Theresa M. Jeffries and her husband, Gene, Patricia E. McGarry and her husband, Mark, Thomas B. Brown, and Michael E. Brown and his wife, Jessica.
Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, Brittany N. Smoot, Blake K. Smoot, Noel C. Smoot, Tabatha L. Jones and her husband, William, Christa M. Conrad and her husband, Sean, Stephanie E. Jeffries, Amber L. Jeffries, Elyse M. Brown, and Emmett L. Brown.
He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Carleigh M. Atkins and Kayla M. Jones, and two sisters, Christina Sheehan and her husband, Joseph, and Catherine Dellinger and her husband, Noah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Brown, who died in 2006.
The family will receive friends and a Christian Wake Service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 6-8p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 10a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 2524.
