Cecil Earl Atkins' Obituary
Cecil Earl Atkins, 89, of Amissville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Warrenton Overlook Nursing Home. He was born June 16, 1917 in Sperryville, VA to the late Herbert and Lena Atkins.
Mr. Atkins was a devoted member of Thorntons Gap Regular Baptist Church in Sperryville. He enjoyed gardening but most of all loved witnessing for Christ.
He is survived by four children, Cecil E. Atkins and his wife, Janet of Ocala, FL, John M. Atkins and his wife, Phyllis of Culpeper, Thomas W. Atkins and his wife, Mildred of Amissville, and Patricia Grigsby and her husband, Alvin of Castleton.
Additional survivors included two sisters, Helen Atkins, and Lecie Leake, six grandchildren, Tracy Flick, Steven Atkins, Duane Fincham, Darrell Atkins, Daphnie Archilla, and Rena Grigsby, five great grandsons, one great granddaughter, three great step grandsons, and one great step granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rena C. Atkins, a sister, Lucille Atkins, and one brother, Charlie Atkins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 16, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Thorntons Gap Regular Baptist Church with Rev. Kirby Shenk and Rev. John Burke officiating.
Interment will follow in the Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Atkins, Ray Atkins, Michael Leake, Dennis Ralls, Ed Martin, Charles Atkins, Lynn Atkins, and David Shenk.
