LouElla was my oldest sister, #1 and I was # 10 of the 11 children. My first memories were of her bringing Mommy red roses some Fridays when she'd come to pick up Lisa, who mom babysat. But she was also a mother figure for me, as I went to babysit her girls as a young teen and stayed 2yrs. She taught me to cook and take care of a home and family, so I was well prepared when I got married and began my own family. I remember her taking me to a shop in Mannassas to buy me a few new school dresses. Us sitting in the den watching her super 8 silent movies she'd taken of family get togethers. All of our large family going to church together for decades, having meals afterwards almost every Sunday, at Mom &Dad's, sometimes at the church or local parks. Her taking charge of family events like booking family photo sessions at Olan Mills, etc. But mainly, that she was a praying, Godly Christian that loved her family deeply, friendly and helpful to family, friends and even strangers, which most became new friends. She was admired in her community as a nice lady that got things done, just 1 of which was writing a local column that kept up with the going ons and ppl of her area. She served on the Culpeper Cty school board. She was interested in politics, local to national, always voted, a proud American! She loved to share her photos and stories of where she was born, her growing up years and married life. As her family grew from grandkids to great grandkids, she babysat a few full-time, but loved them all and was so happy and proud of each one. She continued to do alot with her family until just the last few years as her health issues became worse. Lou will never be forgotten as the caring, kind, wonderful lady she was. I'm so grateful that she was my sister and for all she did for me. She was so loved and will be surely missed by us all.
