Catherine Elizabeth Aylor Mason's Obituary
Catherine Elizabeth Aylor Mason, 96, of Culpeper, died on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at her residence. She was born on January 31, 1913, in Novum to the late Mahlon and Pansy Rosson Aylor.
Mrs. Mason was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church where she took time to visit those who were homebound and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Unity Chapter # 201. She worked in the War Department during World War II. She was the Records Manager for the Chamber of Commerce of the U.S. for 30 years, and a sales associate for Sears. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking and canning, and shopping.
She is survived by her stepmother, Flora B. Aylor Caudle of Burleson, TX, her siblings, Marie A. Robertson of Huntsville, AL, Kemper H. Aylor, Mahlon H. Aylor, Jr. of Madison, Ruth Atcheson, Annie A. Ellis, Diane Bomar, Joann Halaby and Sue Ellen Clark, all of Texas. Special nieces and nephews, Barbara Kinsey, Randolph Kinsey, Catherine Black, Edward Kinsey, Andrew, James and David Wallace, Virginia Hamilton, Larry and Sandy Aylor, Linda O’Donnell, Catina Porter, Tanya Gaither and numerous other nieces and nephews, and dedicated caregiver, Blondell White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Caroll S. Mason and her siblings, Lester E. Aylor, Charles W. Aylor, Gertrude A. Wallace, Thelma M. Aylor, Helen L. Kinsey, Evelyn V. Arnold, Aylette M. Aylor and Earl F. Aylor.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. John Farrar and Rev. John Staples officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
