Catherine Mae Thodos' Obituary
Catherine Mae Thodos (1938-2023) went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at her home in Partlow, VA.
She was born in Washington, DC on September 27, 1938 to Charles M. Harman Sr. and Catherine M. Harman. The second child (oldest daughter), she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles M. Harman, Jr. and her sister, E. Marie Redman.
Catherine is survived by her five children, Christine L. Page (Eddie), Catherine M. Catlett (Robbie), A. William Ware (Jennifer Boyd), Richard W. Ware (Dianna), and Raymond W. Ware (Jennifer); 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also a step/surrogate mother and grandmother to many friends as well.
Over her life she had many careers including: stay-at-home mom, childcare provider, bank teller, and floral designer. She concluded her career life as a Management Program Analyst for U.S. Customs Air Division where she retired in 2002.
She lived most of her adult life in Alexandria, VA before moving to the Fredericksburg area to be closer to most of her children and grandchildren. Catherine loved her family and they gathered at her home for most holidays and cookie baking, egg dyeing, crab feasts, etc. She loved her church and was active in the Senior group, the choir and various other groups often donating flower arrangements for events. She loved decorating her small home for every holiday. She loved the water and swam in her pool daily for as long as the season would allow since her retirement. She also loved to travel, both for her job and on vacation with various friends and family members.
Her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her!
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023 with the rosary recitation at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8200 Robert E. Lee Drive, Spotsylvania, VA 22551. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Suite 401, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
