Catherine Sabin's Obituary
Catherine Sabin, 95, an assistant librarian at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Alexandria during the 1970s, died September 29, 2010 at Goodwin House in Alexandria. She had cancer.
Mrs. Sabin was a member of the Board of Lady Managers of Inova Alexandria Hospital. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the American Red Cross and Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Alexandria.
Catherine Jones was born in Charlottesville and grew up in Culpeper. She graduated from George Washington University in the late 1930s with a degree in Library Science.
Before her marriage to Archie R. Sabin in 1940, she worked at the Smithsonian Institution and at the YMCA in Washington. After her husband's death in 1972, she went to work for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes.
Survivors include three sons, Samueal Sabin of Falls Church, Archie Sabin Jr. of Arlington County and Roger Sabin of Fairfax County; and two grandchildren.
A short graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in Fairview Cemetery at 11 am.
