Cassandra Ewell Mumford's Obituary
Cassandra Ewell Mumford, 60, of Fredericksburg, Virginia entered into eternal peace on Friday, May 5, 2017. She was born on July 29, 1956 to Edna Dolores Ewell and the late James Ivory Dickens Sr.
Cassandra attended the District of Columbia Public Schools receiving her high school diploma from William McKinley Technical High School in 1974. Sandra started working for the federal government in high school and continued after graduation. She joined the private sector working for Dynatec Corporation, iNova Fairfax Hospital and when her health started to decline she continued to work retail part time.
Cassandra married her friend and soul mate, Lester Mumford in September 1976. Their union produced Michael Jerome (Elizabeth) and Stephanie ChaVon. The young couple relocated to Northern Virginia to raise the children and later moved to North Carolina to prepare for retirement.
Cassandra leaves her loving memories to be cherished by: her devoted children, Michael (Elizabeth) and Stephanie; her faithful mother, Edna Clark; her loving sisters, Patrice, Pamela (Anthony) and Jacqueline (Aaron); her protective brothers, James Jr. and Riccardo; sister-in-law, Joan; a doting Goddaughter, Cheree; and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, lifelong friends and children she nurtured along the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; grandparents, John Walter and Evelyn Ewell; and her father, James I. Dickens, Sr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
