Carvey Joseph Hoffman's Obituary
Our beloved Carvey “Sonny” Joseph Hoffman of Culpeper was called home on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Sonny passed away peacefully at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on March 6, 1938 to the late Jack W. Hoffman and Louise Pritchett.
Sonny enjoyed woodworking, metal detecting and working in his yard and garden. He served 4 years in the Navy and worked nearly 50 years for Merchants Grocery. Sonny was an active foster parent and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and foster parent.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Rebecca Hoffman; daughters, Angela Wienckowski and her husband, Timothy and Deborah Boyd and her husband, Harold; son, Carvey Hoffman, Jr.; stepson, Ricky Jenkins and his wife, Teresa; and stepdaughters, Teresa Butler and her husband, Paul, Belinda Deal and her husband, Bruce, and Sherri Jenkins and her significant partner, Charles Franklin; sisters, Joyce Grady and her husband, Ray and Faye Jenkins; brother, Jack Hoffman, Jr. and his wife, Mary Alice and special cousin, Kenneth Hoffman.
Additional survivors include fourteen grandchildren; Jessica Wilkins, Tabitha Riley and her husband, Robert, Daniel Liller, Reahannon Hoffman, Tiffany Jenkins, Ricky Jenkins, Jr., Shelby Butler, Chelsy Butler, Morgan Butler, Brittany Deal, Brianna Deal, Hailey Jenkins, Bradley Jenkins and Kellee Jenkins; three great grandchildren, Jayzmin Smith, Javeah Smith and Javian Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Loyce “Woody” Hoffman and his aunt, Lucilla Hoffman.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Rev. Oliver Bowles and Rev. Steve Clinedinst officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
