Carryl Lee Peters' Obituary
Carryl Lee Greenstreet Peters, 87, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her residence in Culpeper, VA. She was born November 12, 1937, in Maryland to the late Edward William Greenstreet and Ann Lee Thumm Greenstreet.
Carryl was a bookkeeper at A&P. For almost all of her adult life, she was a homemaker, kept an immaculate home, and laid a resplendent board that will resonate with the family. She enjoyed reading, watching sports, gardening (her favorite flower was the iris), making family home videos, and playing on the farm with her grandchildren. On Sundays, Carryl attended church at Culpeper Baptist Church and was very active there. Her daughter, Laura, granddaughter, Victoria, and four of her great-granddaughters, Ken’ni, Alaina, Aleia, and Karter J., carry her middle name in her honor.
Carryl is survived by her grandson, Joshua Quinton Peters; two granddaughters, Victoria Lee Hunter-Coates (Kenny) and Kimberly Ann Hunter; seven great-grandchildren, Ronald (Boss), Ken’ni, Destiny, Jocelyn, Alaina, Aleia and Karter J.; sister, Dorothy Ann Greenstreet Barkley; six nieces and nephews; twenty grand nieces and nephews; five great-grand nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Robert E. Peters; sisters-in-law, Mary Hawthorne and Helen Smith; and extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carryl is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Morris Walton Peters; daughter, Laura Lee Peters; son, Matthew Walton Peters; a stillborn baby; and sister, Nancy Ruth Greenstreet Crittenden.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA, with Rev. Douglas Forrester officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
